Britain used to be home to great forests and animals, including bison, bears and wolves. But centuries of intense farming, building and industrial expansion have resulted in Britain becoming one of the most nature-depleted countries in the Western world.
It's easy to forget that we rely on nature. But the truth is that our water, food and even the air we breathe relies on a healthy natural ecosystem. Today, that ecosystem is on the brink of collapse. We have to save it.
Rewilding Britain is a charity with an ambitious goal: to restore natural habitats to at least 30% of Britain’s land and sea by 2030. In their own words, "By protecting, restoring and regenerating species-rich mosaics of habitats, rewilding helps reverse biodiversity loss and bring back the abundance of Britain’s wildlife."
If they can achieve their goal, we and future generations will be all the better for it. But as a charity, they need all the help they can get.
I firmly believe in the importance of restoring our natural habitats, which is why I'm donating part of the proceeds from every sale of Return Of The Wild to Rewilding Britain. If you share this belief, you can make a personal donation or support them in other ways.
Only together can we rebalance our crucial relationship with nature.
